How Depop Fees Work

Depop takes a 10% cut of every sale, plus a separate payment processing charge of 3.4% + £0.30. Both fees apply to the full amount the buyer pays — item price and shipping combined, not just the item price. Unlike eBay or Etsy, Depop doesn't offer a store subscription or category-based discount: the same 10% + (3.4% + £0.30) combination applies uniformly to every sale on the platform.

Input Fields Explained

• Item Price (£): the sale price of the item.
• Shipping Cost (£): any shipping fee you charge, included in Depop's fee base.
• Item Cost/Expense (£): what you paid for the item, used only to calculate net profit — optional.

Worked Example

A £50 item, no shipping charged, that cost you £20 to acquire:

• Total sale amount: £50.00
• Depop fee (10%): £5.00
• Payment fee (3.4% + £0.30): £2.00
• Total fees: £7.00
• You receive: £43.00
• Net profit after the £20 item cost: £23.00 — a 46% margin on the sale amount

Reading the Results

"You Receive" is what actually lands in your Depop balance after both fees — it shows regardless of whether you fill in an item cost. Net Profit and Profit Margin only appear once you enter a cost, since without it there's nothing to compare the payout against.

Limitations

The fee rates here are fixed at 10% and 3.4% + £0.30 and don't account for any promotional fee waivers Depop occasionally runs, currency conversion if you're paid in a different currency than you sell in, or regional payment-fee differences outside the UK/US/Australia. This calculator doesn't include your own packaging or postage costs unless you add them manually as part of item cost.

Common Use Cases

Check this before setting a listing price to make sure 10% plus payment processing still leaves room for a profit once you account for what you paid for the item. It's also useful for comparing whether charging separately for shipping or folding it into the item price changes your net — since both Depop's fee and the payment fee apply to the combined total either way, the fee amount doesn't change, though how buyers perceive the price might.
