- The public pricing page lists tiers as "up to" and "above" without saying whether the higher rate applies to the whole price or only to the part above the threshold. The calculator follows Amazon's fee schedule: whole price for Clothing, Beauty, Baby and Grocery; only the part above the threshold for Jewelry, Watches, Furniture, Electronics Accessories and Compact Appliances. How Amazon seller fees work
- Referral fee: a percentage of the total price the buyer pays (item price + shipping + gift wrap). The rate depends on the category, and most categories have a minimum of $0.30 per item.
- Per-item fee: $0.99 on the Individual plan. The Professional plan costs $39.99 a month instead and has no per-item fee.
- Closing fee: $1.80 per item on media.
- Fulfilment: if you use FBA, Amazon charges a fulfilment fee based on the product's size and weight. If you ship orders yourself, your cost is the postage.
Worked example
You sell a kitchen gadget for $24.99 on the Individual plan and ship it yourself for $4.50. It cost you $8.00.
- Referral fee, Home and Kitchen: 15% × $24.99 = $3.75.
- Per-item fee: $0.99.
- Payout: $24.99 − $4.74 = $20.25.
- Profit: $20.25 − $8.00 − $4.50 = $7.75.

In a 15% category, $4.50 in referral fee plus $0.99 per item on the Individual plan: $5.49 in total. On the Professional plan the per-item fee does not apply, so the sale costs $4.50. FBA fulfilment fees, if you use FBA, come on top.

Only if you enter them. FBA fulfilment fees depend on the size tier and shipping weight of each product and on the time of year, so there is no single rate. Look up your item's fee in Amazon's FBA rate card or revenue calculator and type it into the FBA field under More options.
What is the closing fee?
$1.80 per item on media: books, DVDs, music, software and video. It is charged in addition to the referral fee.
