Etsy Fee Calculator

Overview

Etsy charges three fees on every sale — a transaction fee, a listing fee, and a payment processing fee — plus a fourth, conditional fee if the sale came through Etsy's offsite advertising network. This calculator adds all four together against your item price, shipping, and quantity to show your actual take-home profit.

The Fee Structure

• Transaction fee — 6.5%: charged on the total sale amount, including whatever you charge for shipping.
• Listing fee — $0.20: a flat fee charged once per listing, not per item sold if you sell multiple units of the same listing in one order.
• Payment processing — 3% + $0.25: Etsy Payments' processing charge, also applied to item price plus shipping.
• Offsite Ads fee — 12%: only applies when a sale is attributed to an ad Etsy placed for you off-platform. It's optional in this calculator because it's optional in reality — tick the box only if it applies to the sale you're estimating.

How to Use This Tool

1. Enter your item's price and the shipping you charge (0 if shipping is free).
2. Enter the quantity sold in this order.
3. Tick the Offsite Ads box only if this specific sale came from an Etsy ad.
4. Click Calculate Fees.

Worked Example

A $50 item, no shipping charge, one unit, no offsite ads:

• Total revenue: $50.00
• Transaction fee (6.5%): $3.25
• Listing fee: $0.20
• Payment processing (3% + $0.25): $1.75
• Total fees: $5.20
• Net profit: $44.80 — an 89.6% margin

Tick the Offsite Ads box on that same sale and Etsy takes an additional 12% of the $50, or $6.00, dropping net profit to $38.80.

Reading the Results

The breakdown table shows total revenue first, each fee itemized underneath, then total fees and net profit. Profit margin is net profit as a percentage of total revenue, which accounts for shipping you've collected rather than just looking at the raw fee total.

Limitations

This covers the standard Etsy Payments fee stack for a US seller. It doesn't include Etsy Ads — the on-platform, seller-controlled kind, different from Offsite Ads — currency conversion fees for non-USD payouts, or Etsy's separate $0.20 listing-renewal fee that recurs every four months a listing stays active unsold. Rates shown are fixed in the calculator and won't update automatically if Etsy changes its fee schedule.

Common Use Cases

Run a price through this before publishing a new listing to see what you'll actually net. Compare a "free shipping" listing (shipping cost folded into item price) against charging shipping separately — since Etsy's transaction fee applies to both the same way, the fee total is identical either way, but seeing the number laid out helps decide which pricing display converts better for your shop.
